amnesty international's vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the universal declaration of human rights and other international human rights instruments. in pursuit of this vision, amnesty international’s mission is to undertake research and action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of these rights. at the amnesty international network utrecht, we combine the forces of active amnesty members in utrecht in order to locally contribute to the global ambitions and actions of amnesty. with this informally organized network, we meet on a monthly basis with the whole network and occasionally organize separate committee meetings when preparing events. the strength of the network is that is a fun and low-key place to become more familiar with the work and campaigns of amnesty, while simultaneously being able to actively make local ideas come to life. within the network you will be surrounded by enthusiastic people with diverse backgrounds who share the drive to make this world a better place through combatting human rights violation. since we are still in our first year of operation, we continuously develop ourselves towards a stronger network. however, we like to remain flexible in what we do as that is what inspires us most. examples of the type of activities that we have undertaken over the past period are: - participation in the yearly write for rights action by amnesty international - participation in the women’s march to create awareness for amnesty’s consent campaign - consent themed condom hand-out sessions in the city centre of utrecht to raise awareness for amnesty’s consent campaign - a second-hand clothing market to raise awareness for the uyghur forced labor taking place in china caused by the fashion industry more ideas are being developed as we go! are you interested in learning more about what we do or in becoming part of our network? please let us know by contacting us at info@ainu.amnesty.nl
