Penguin Transcription

penguin transcription was set up in 2004, by dranne hickley, to specialise in transcription, stemming from her more general virtual assistance company, penguin office services, which began in 2003. initially she worked on her own from home, but the company has expanded and now has an office and two employees. we may be looking for a third soon. with over 50 years of experience between us in the office, we have built up expertise in researching the terminology relating to any topic and, of course, excellence in the english language. transcription isn't just typing the words you hear; it’s making sense of them in order to ensure the right homonyms are used (words that sound the same but are spelled differently) and that punctuation goes in all the right places. it’s skilled work, and the fact that our clients keep on coming back to us tells you that it’s a skill we have in abundance. in fact most of our work comes from word-of-mouth recommendations. as anne has a background in academia (degree and phd from university of exeter), we have tended to specialise in transcription of research material, such as interviews and focus groups, for charities and universities, but we also carry out transcription of conferences, seminars, disciplinary meetings, project meetings etc.
